The Storage Heaven Mirage MFCX880 disk-based virtual tape library (VTL) based solutions target the growing need of Medium to Large Businesses to efficiently protect critical business data. The MFCX880 dual controller configuration provides twice the performance plus the key benefits of fault tolerance and redundancy.
The MFCX880 uses existing tape backup software and procedures to record “virtual tape cartridges” on RAID systems. The MFCX880 is seen by the backup application as a conventional tape library, but provides more reliable high performance backup and quick restores typical of RAID systems. The MFCX880 VTL is scalable and can grow with future requirements by attaching up to a total of eight RAID systems to the MFCX880 virtual tape unit.
The MFCX880 virtual tape system delivers immediate performance improvements to backup and restore applications with a sustained speed of over 1 TB per hour. The MFCX880 supports up to four virtual tape drives per controller simultaneously, allowing up to eight backup streams to run concurrently.
The MFCX880 enables users to integrate the VTL minimizing changes to their existing configuration. The MFCX880 is simply added as another tape library device. The backup software can now backup or restore to or from the MFCX880. The number of virtual tape slots and drives is user selectable and up to 8 virtual tape drives are supported.
